SINA was developed to overcome specific challenges of the digital transformation in the administrative sector. Its origins lay in the government's move from Bonn to Berlin. The first building block was securely encrypted communication via the internet, followed by secure laptops for government employees. Today, SINA forms an integrated ecosystem of applications, computers, network encryption and a cloud platform. With over 250,000 active devices, SINA has established itself as the de facto standard in the German federal administration.

The security architecture includes more than just BSI-approved devices. By default, they are compliant with the German classified information directive (VSA). The portfolio offers an overall system in which the individual components are perfectly harmonized. SINA is not only an IT system that makes it particularly easy for users to work with, but also an all-in-one solution that can be administered centrally and efficiently while securing and protecting all devices.
Whether the requirement is for an agile and sovereign cloud solution or a fully comprehensive network infrastructure, SINA is fully adaptable. Thanks to the unique SINA security operating system, the virtual working environment is strictly separated from the firmware and hardware, ensuring that malware attacks are successfully prevented. It is also possible to use multi-sessions – i.e. several virtual sessions with different security requirements – on one device at the same time. This simplifies daily, parallel work with business, private and security-critical content up to classification level SECRET.
Safeguarded at any level
The SINA portfolio offers various application-specific hardware platforms that facilitate modern and flexible everyday work with classified data ranging from German national RESTRICTED (VS-NfD), NATO RESTRICTED, RESTREINT UE/EU RESTRICTED to SECRET, NATO SECRET, SECRET UE/EU SECRET. The devices are built around a toughened, security-evaluated SINA OS system platform and are also extremely robust, electromagnetically shielded and equipped with hardware-based cryptography, depending on the application scenario and classification level. Thanks to integrated post-quantum cryptography (PQC), highly classified data is already protected against store-now-decrypt-later attacks, thus safeguarding the corresponding investment in the long term.
