Security Document World 2010: secunet presents its new PKI Suite for sovereign documents in electronic form

[Essen, 4 February 2010] At Security Document World (SDW) 2010, secunet will be introducing its new Public Key Infrastructure solution for electronic identity documents (eIDs). The secunet eID PKI Suite provides a basis for exchanging the certificates required to access the electronically stored data for eIDs such as the new German ID card. Security Document World 2010 is taking place in London on February 9 and 10.

Today’s sovereign documents in electronic form contain biometric data to authenticate the holder. To protect the data from unauthorized access and manipulation, eIDs only disclose the data if the reader tool has appropriate encryption certificates. These certificates are exchanged internationally by means of Public Key Infrastructure solutions.

The solution which secunet is now introducing, the eID PKI Suite, encompasses all the security mechanisms of ICAO PKI and EAC PKI – the PKIs of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the European Union (EAC – Extended Access Control). The communication protocol supports the CSN 36 9791 (SPOC) and the Technical Guideline 03129 of the German Federal Office for Information Security.

With the eID PKI Suite, secunet is enhancing its broad range of eID solutions, which already includes the Golden Reader Tool Platinum Edition, the biometric middleware secunet biomiddle and services such as conformity tests.

Security Document World (SDW) has established itself worldwide as one of the most important events in the field of electronic identity documents and border controls. The SDW 2010 trade fair and conference is taking place on February 9 and 10 in the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, Westminster, London. The secunet stand is at position C13.
