Social Days at secunet
As part of the Social Days initiative, we combine monetary donations with our collective team effort to support disadvantaged children and young people.
We organize at least one project per year at every site with more than 25 employees – and these can vary widely: Sometimes, we actively participate in 'hands-on-projects' to enhance the outdoor area of our project partner by painting wooden huts and fences or planting trees. Sometimes, we fulfill long-cherished wishes by organizing 'excursion projects' such as taking children on a trip to go bowling, visit the zoo or explore a museum – creating experiences and impressions they might not otherwise have the chance to enjoy.
We are proud to have successfully expanded the Social Days since their introduction in 2023. This allowed us to include more projects and locations, engaging over 150 colleagues in a total of 13 projects in 2024!

Major operation in the green classroom

The property leased by our project partner Tausche Bildung für Wohnen e.V. spans an impressive 1.3 hectares, and the hands-on-project team in Essen went all out! With incredible energy, our 'secunauts' transformed the green classrom: They first removed six cubic meters of waterlogged soil, which was disposed of in the forest, and replaced it with around 100 wheelbarrows of gravel. They felled trees and planted new ones, cleared massive bramble bushes, and mowed the lawn. At the end and all together, they moved a yurt across the property.

125 popsicles and fresh color

The hands-on project team in Hamburg has proven once again that great things can be accomplished, even by a small group: Together, our 'secunauts' completely transformed the 'crib room' and the 'dolphin room' at the Jonni Birckholtz daycare center. First, holes in the walls were filled, and large wooden panels were sanded down before being repainted in colors specially chosen by the children themselves. To top it all off, the 125 children were treated to ice cream!

Craftsmanship at the family center

With plenty of muscle, skill and attention to detail, the Hannover hands-on-project team worked tirelessly to enhance the outdoor areas of the Carl-Sonnenschein-Haus. Their efforts resulted in new pallet sofas on castors, freshly sanded and painted benches and tables, and a creative water game made of pool noodles, which now offers fun and games.

Bright spots at Lichtblick Hasenbergl

The excursion project team in Munich created several highlights for nearly 50 children from the Lichtblick Hasenbergl organization: While the kids were still at school, part of the team was already busy preparing dessert for lunch. The others worked on new decorations to brighten up the room.
After a shared luch, everyone danced and played soccer together before heading to the bowling center – a long awaited outing that the children had been dreaming of. Thanks to the efforts of our 'secunauts', it was a day they will always remember!
