GDPR compliant research platform for medical progress in healthcare

The collaboration between secunet and HONIC is a good example of creating a trustworthy and compliant data environment to establish medical data from various healthcare facilities in off-premise cloud usage.

In a first step, secunet medical connect is integrated as a secure gateway platform into existing IT networks of healthcare facilities. As such, secunet medical connect acts as a central connectivity component and enables HONIC to implement its data-driven services, starting with a flexible and secured interface to the data-carrying system and the collection of source data. In addition, the high-performance and hardened edge gateway protects the execution and data of the various HONIC applications. HONIC uses different applications (microservices) to capture, process, pseudonymize and transport medical data. In addition to HONIC's own applications, a trust service of the Bundesdruckerei is also integrated in the form of a container application. In this way, various regulatory guidelines, standards and norms can be observed from the hardware to the data processing.
