EasyGO: Automated border control in the Czech Republic

Since 2011, the Czech Border Police has been using automated border control gates (eGates) at Prague's Vaclav Havel Airport, which were developed and supplied by secunet.

Due to the positive experience in the form of a significantly accelerated and at the same time secure border control process, the Czech Border Police began to expand the installation in 2015. In the course of this, secunet has now delivered 17 easygates of the latest generation, the corresponding border control server, the monitoring application and other applications for border control officers and administrators to the Czech Police.

The border control system is complemented by the Terminal Control Center (TCC), a component of the secunet eID PKI Suite. The TCC is the link between the eGates and the Czech ICAO/EAC PKI, enabling full verification of electronic identity documents. In close cooperation with local partner VÍTKOVICE IT Solutions, secunet implemented this solution in the existing border control infrastructure of the Czech Border Police and also supports, services and maintains the systems at Prague Airport.

At the beginning of 2021, the Czech Border Police commissioned VÍTKOVICE IT SOLUTIONS a.s. and secunet with the first and most extensive part of its implementation of the European Entry/Exit System. As a subcontractor to Vítkovice, secunet is supplying, among other things, automated solutions for manual border control at several Czech airports, including Václav Havel Airport in Prague. Around 60 secunet easykiosk systems will ensure that third-country nationals can pre-register themselves. This will speed up check-in at the counter. About 90 secunet easytower systems will capture high-quality facial images.

Thus, technology from secunet will help to ensure that border controls at Czech international airports remain fast, simple and secure - also after the introduction of the EES
