Full control rather than flying blind when exchanging data: FTAPI and secunet cloud launch their joint lighthouse project

FTAPI and secunet cloud present their joint lighthouse project: FTAPI’s automated, AI-powered data classification meets secunet cloud’s sovereign and secure cloud infrastructure ‘Made in Germany’. The aim of the project is to give companies transparency and control over which sensitive data leaves their organisation. The project has been unveiled for the first time at it-sa 2026 in Nuremberg.

As connectivity increases – more partners, more systems, more data flows – a key risk is growing for businesses: they often do not know exactly which sensitive data is leaving their premises, how it is being protected, or whether its exchange meets regulatory requirements. In the face of growing cyber threats and a tense geopolitical situation, this lack of transparency is increasingly becoming a business risk: compliance breaches go undetected until it is too late, and those responsible cannot prove, in the event of an incident, what happened to which data.

This is precisely where the joint initiative by FTAPI and secunet cloud comes in. It demonstrates how sovereign, European cloud AI infrastructure and automated data classification work together to eliminate this blind spot: sensitive data is identified, categorised and its exchange documented in a traceable manner. Digital sovereignty thus moves from being an abstract demand to a concrete technical implementation.

For FTAPI, the initiative fits seamlessly into its own strategic positioning: alongside its ‘System of Record’, every company also has a ‘System of Exchange’ – the sum of the routes through which sensitive data leaves the organisation. FTAPI makes this ‘System of Exchange’ visible, controllable and verifiable. For secunet cloud, the collaboration represents a further building block on the path towards a sovereign AI ecosystem for regulated sectors, operated on European infrastructure.

“Digital sovereignty must not remain mere lip service. With this initiative, we are demonstrating that security and control over one’s own data exchange are technically feasible today – not at some point in the future, but right now. This is precisely what drives us at FTAPI: data should not flow out unchecked, but should be actively managed,” says Ari Albertini, CEO of FTAPI.

“Anyone talking about data sovereignty must also talk about the infrastructure on which this data is processed. With secunet cloud, we offer a sovereign, European foundation on which solutions such as FTAPI’s AI classification can work to their full potential,” says Andreas Rückriegel, Vice President Cloud Services at secunet Security Networks AG.
