Telematics infrastructure for all: secunet and Worldline develop TI Gateway

Secure access to the German telematics infrastructure (TI) without a connector: this will be possible from Q3 2024. secunet, Germany's leading cybersecurity company and market leader among connector manufacturers, is developing a TI Gateway (TIG) together with Worldline. Based on the secunet high-speed connector, the gateway enables any number of service providers to be connected to the TI.

Whether already connected service providers such as practices and pharmacies or new users of the TI, the TI Gateway will play a central role for all stakeholders in the healthcare sector in future. The digital service is based on a high-performance server infrastructure and high-speed connectors with high availability approved by gematik. The TIG is completed by an access module and a web-based user portal. This means that smaller facilities and, in particular, mobile service providers such as physiotherapists or care services can also benefit from TI access via the TIG and do not have to operate their own connectors in their practices or premises. With the TI connection "as-a-service", the TIG replaces the stationary connectors.

Two strong partners with many years of expertise and market leadership in the healthcare sector have joined forces to develop the TI Gateway: secunet and Worldline. In December 2023, secunet was the first provider on the market to receive approval for a high-speed connector. Together with other components, this forms the basis for the TI Gateway. Worldline, also known as the market leader for eHealth card terminals with over 350,000 terminals installed in the German healthcare sector, contributes in particular its expertise in operating certified connectivity platforms that are resilient and flexible with over 500,000 devices in use. The platform is the technical basis for access to the TI for service providers. This combination makes the partnership unique.

The TI Gateway supports all TI applications such as CardLink, TI Messenger (TIM) and Communication in Medicine (KIM) - tailored to the needs of the user. In addition, service providers have access to the secure gateway platform technology secunet medical connect, for intelligent and flexible connection to the TI and beyond.

Approval of the operational high-speed connector version 1.1.0 is expected shortly and the high-speed connector version of the TI Gateway in the third quarter of 2024. secunet will be presenting both technologies from 9 to 11 April at DMEA (Hall 1.2, Stand E-107), Europe's leading event for digital health.

"Developing nothing less than the best possible TI Gateway - that is the goal of our partnership with Worldline. With our market leadership and bundled expertise in all facets of healthcare, we want to drive digitisation forward and not only think innovation, but also implement it: scalable, simple and data protection-compliant," says Markus Linnemann, Vice President Division eHealth, secunet.
