SINA encryption devices receive approval for the highest EU security classification

[Essen, 14th August 2014] The EU Council has approved additional SINA encryption devices for use within the EU for the secure transfer of information via public lines. This makes secunet the only manufacturer currently producing IP-based encryption solutions suitable for all EU security classifications. The approval of the SINA L3 Box H for the SECRET UE / EU SECRET classification was announced on 11th August 2014.

As a virtual private network gateway, the SINA L3 Box is a core component of IT infrastructure for high-security networks. The data transmitted between SINA L3 Boxes is transferred securely via encrypted VPN tunnels. In addition, SINA clients like the SINA Workstation can use the SINA L3 Box to access server space. The EU-approved SINA L3 Box H is equipped with the SINA CORE, a cryptographic module developed by secunet in partnership with the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). The high-performance SINA CORE module can load multiple cryptographic algorithms and is thus suited to versatile applications.

The confidentiality of SECRET UE / EU SECRET communications has to be guaranteed using encryption devices which have been recommended by the Security Committee and approved by the Council of the European Union in its role as Crypto Approval Authority (CAA).

“The new EU approval of our SINA L3 Box H serves to underscore our excellent work developing top-grade security solutions at the international level,” states Dr. Rainer Baumgart, Chairman of the Board at secunet Security Networks AG. “As long-standing partners of the European institutions and member states, we can go on meeting our customers’ high security requirements with the new-generation SINA L3 Box.”
