secunet presents new solutions for read-outs and testing of electronic ID documents

[Essen/Germany, 19 November 2009] The new secunet Golden Reader Tool (GRT) Platinum Edition is able to read out electronically stored data of electronic ID documents such as the ePassport or the coming electronic German ID card, for example. It supports all versions of Extended Access Control (EAC) and is furthermore able to communicate via PACE – the Password Authenticated Connection Establishment to be used in German ID cards. The software is meant for manufacturers of software or hardware and for public authorities who have to read out electronic documents securely and must verify their authenticity.

secunet’s GRT Platinum Edition is an advancement from the Golden Reader Tool which was developed by secunet as early as 2005 on behalf of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and which has been internationally tested and acknowledged as a reference implementation.

The new version comprises a wider range of functions and is more flexible when it comes to use-cases and design. The user-interface can be customised by so-called Application-SnapIns which make it easily applicable on mobile devices and touch screens as well. As opposed to the former Golden Reader Tool, the secunet Golden Reader Tool Platinum Edition is meant for commercial use and offers the possibility to adjust the design to each respective company. The fast and lean implementation allows integration in individual application scenarios very easily.
