secunet CEO appointed to the Permanent Stakeholder Group of ENISA

[Essen/Heraklion, 19 February 2010] The European cyber-security agency ENISA (European Network and Information Security Agency) announced the new members of its Permanent Stakeholder Group. Dr. Rainer Baumgart, CEO of secunet Security Networks AG, is one of them.

The Permanent Stakeholder Group (PSG) of ENISA consists of 30 leading experts in information and communication technologies (ICT) from all over Europe. They represent interest groups from science, the ICT industry and ICT user organizations. The PSG advises and supports the Executive Director of ENISA in fulfilling the mandate of the agency. At the same time, the PSG members are the link with the relevant interest groups.

The purpose of ENISA is to strengthen the capacity of the European Community, the Member States and companies in terms of prevention, response to and rectification of problems in the field of network and information security. In addition, it supports and advises the EU Commission and the Member States.

“It makes sense to concentrate expertise into one international organization, as the threats to network and information security are becoming increasingly global,” said Dr. Rainer Baumgart on his appointment. “I feel greatly honored to be working on this task as part of this committee.”
