secunet and Astaro announce technological partnership

[Essen, 17 February 2010] Essen-based secunet Security Networks AG and Astaro AG, based in Karlsruhe, have formed a technological partnership: In future, the companies plan the joint development and distribution of IT security products. The first product of the partnership is the new secunet wall 2 – an all-in-one security appliance to be presented at this year’s CeBIT.

The new secunet wall 2 is a security gateway which unites several security technologies in a single device. These security functions include a firewall, intrusion prevention, anti-spam and -phishing capabilities, e-mail encryption, single sign-on, clustering, two anti-virus scanners and more. All security functions of the secunet wall 2 are controlled from a common web interface. As proof of the high level of security which it offers, the system is to be certified according to Common Criteria EAL 4+ standard.

“In Astaro AG, we have found a skilled partner with many years’ experience in Unified Threat Management solutions. The new all-in-one appliance is an excellent addition to our product range, particularly for public agencies,” explains Dr. Rainer Baumgart, CEO of secunet.

“In secunet, we have gained a very strong partner who knows the special security requirements that authorities have,” comments Jan Hichert, CEO of Astaro. “secunet has extensive knowledge of the public sector, while Astaro is a German developer and provider of leading security technology on a global scale – this combination offers German authorities huge benefits.”
