German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, visits secunet at CeBIT 2013

[Essen/Hanover, 5 March 2013] The German Chancellor, Dr Angela Merkel, visited secunet at this year's CeBIT in Hanover. Dr Rainer Baumgart, Chairman of the Management Board of secunet AG, showed the Chancellor an electronic border control solution that facilitates quick yet secure entry at airports.

As part of her traditional tour of the trade fair, Chancellor Merkel paid secunet a visit together with the Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, and the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, Stephan Weil. "In collaboration with the German Federal Office for Information Security, we develop automatic border control systems that make use of the advantages offered by electronic passports and solve the problem of increasing passenger numbers while at the same time ensuring a high level of security at airports," said Dr Baumgart, explaining the border control solution to the Chancellor.
