Dell and secunet embark on technology partnership

[Frankfurt am Main/Germany, 16 February 2012] With immediate effect, Dell will be cooperating with German IT security specialist secunet: in future the "SINA Workstation" security solution will also be available on Dell's Latitude range of notebooks.

Dell and IT security specialist secunet Security Networks AG from Essen have concluded a partnership agreement, initially covering the "SINA Workstation". In future, Dell will contribute Latitude notebooks as a new hardware platform for SINA technology. The solution will be used wherever data security is important, such as when authorities or the German armed forces are processing, storing or sending confidential data.

The SINA Workstation is a security solution which adopts a comprehensive approach to security. It consists of the secure SINA Linux system platform, smartcard-based user authentication, a fully encrypted file system and the possibility of encrypted communication (VPN). This allows employees to work safely, even with sensitive data, through flexible, mobile network access. The SINA Workstation intelligently combines the various security measures in one device. In addition the technology makes high demands on the choice of a suitable hardware platform.

"Effective information security is an increasingly essential part of protecting and operating IT infrastructures. Amongst other things, it's a question of sensitive government and corporate data being comprehensively protected from unauthorised access," says Dr Rainer Baumgart, chairman of the Management Board of secunet Security Networks AG. "In Dell we have gained a very professional partner, which not only offers our customers a high-quality hardware solution, but also outstanding service."

"The public-sector field is a very exciting customer market for Dell," says Axel Köhler, General Manager of Public Sector with Dell Germany. "The cooperation between secunet and Dell is another step towards developing Dell's strategic commitment to IT security."
