Award for Czech IT Project of the Year goes to secunet

The award was conferred by the Czech Association of Chief Information Officers (CACIO). The competition was held under the patronage of the Czech Prime Minister, Petr Necas, and the Czech Minister of Industry and Trade, Martin Kuba. "The EasyGO project is a practical example of how biometric IDs can be used. The highly developed solution offers a self-service for crossing the border with a high level of security and saves the passengers time," reported CACIO, explaining their decision.

"We are extremely pleased that the project received this prestigious award," said Dr Rainer Baumgart, CEO of secunet Security Networks. "The jury was won over by the simple, trouble-free operation, the reduction in passenger waiting times when entering the country and the higher number of passengers who can cross the border." At an average speed of just 18 seconds per person, over 130,000 passengers from all EU countries, Norway and Switzerland have already taken advantage of the system.

In the EasyGO project, secunet was a subcontractor to VÍTKOVICE IT Solutions and delivered the turnkey e-gate solution, which includes process control of the gates and secunet biomiddle software. This piece of software combines individual biometric components such as passport readers or cameras with client applications and background systems, thus forming the core of the secunet border control gate.
