ABC systems for Keflavik International Airport
Keflavik International Airport is serving increasingly as a hub for intercontinental flights between Europe and North America. As a result the traffic volume is experiencing double-digit growth year on year - in 2016 the growth rate was +40%. In order to be able to cope with the growing passenger numbers in the future, in 2017 modern automated border control systems (eGates) were installed: On behalf of Isavia, secunet initially delivered, installed and put into operation twelve easygates, the corresponding monitoring stations for the control officials and a central management and statistics system. The contract also included the training of the control and technical staff and the on-site supervision of the installation in the first few weeks of operation. The whole contract was executed quickly and smoothly, with the result that the whole system went live within a very short time. The control process is now much more comfortable for travellers and transfer, entry and departure times have reduced significantly. secunet will also be responsible for the next three years for the maintenance and further development of the installed equipment. To this end, highly secure remote maintenance access has been realised for the first time in the border control system: Via an integrated SINA Box – a secure VPN Gateway – the operator can be supported remotely in a cost and resource-efficient manner.
