Eurocontrol - Feasibility Study on the European Regional Renegade Information Dissemination System (ERRIDS)

secunet develops a demonstration system for the "European Regional Renegade Information Dissemination System (ERRIDS)" for Eurocontrol in Brussels.

The ERRIDS network, secured with SINA, is a common platform for all organisations involved in civil aviation interventions, i.e. aircraft hijackings by terrorists. In addition to NATO, these organisations include various national ministries, police authorities, intelligence services, civil and military aviation authorities, EUROPOL and various European airlines. All participants are connected via the ERRIDS network, which is secured via SINA clients and SINA boxes. Access to information in ERRIDS is strictly based on the need-to-know principle and is enforced via strong authentication mechanisms based on SINA Smartcards as well as the PKI-based SINA Online Management. Secure and fast exchange of information, a common, consistent database as well as the connection of all participants will enable rapid de-escalation in the event of false alarms and an immediate and coordinated response in emergencies. In addition to the underlying SINA infrastructure, secunet is also developing the application and the central databases for information distribution together with Eurocontrol.
