New emission standard for trucks: secunet helps commercial vehicle manufacturers ensure compliance

Commercial vehicle manufacturers are obliged to adapt their vehicle development to the new standard. This means they incur additional costs - and this coming after they had to fight falling sales caused by last year's financial crisis. Manufacturers are now looking for efficient, realistic solutions to help them cut CO2 emissions. Alongside vehicle-specific innovations in the field of aerodynamics and drive technology, IT must also play a part in helping to meet the requirements of EURO VI. The new standard provides for the cryptographic protection of control units that regulate exhaust gases and of their software. The same applies for the related data communication between manufacturers and service centers.

secunet offers a range of advisory and implementation services connected with EURO VI, from the authentication of control units right through to the comprehensive cryptographic protection and authentication of control unit software. This also includes the necessary back-end integration of each solution. The services it provides also include implementing the IT structure required for the certificate-based authentication of service centers.

secunet will be presenting this and other topics from the world of Automotive Security at Stand C20, Hall 24 of IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hannover from September 23 to 30, 2010.
