Together with the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) we developed secunet biomiddle. This multi application platform serves as layer between application and basic biometric components. It is based on international standards for biometric processes and data formats and provides its scope of functions via a modern, service-oriented approach (SOAP).

secunet biomiddle’s specific architectural concept offers the following advantages:

• It covers the whole field of biometric functions: Access to ePassports, capturing, comparison and quality testing of biometric data and access to external systems in the background.
• The service-oriented interface enables the simple and fast integration of biometric functions in existing or new applications and environments, independent of their programming language.
• Clearly and distinctly defined interfaces for the connection of biometric components (among others via BioAPI 2.0) ensure independence and interchangeability and therefore security of investment.
