After the amendment of the German Telecommunication Monitoring Ordinance (TKÜV), Internet providers have been required to monitor their e-mail traffic since 1 January 2005. secunet developed a solution based on sniffing technology which ensures legally compliant monitoring. This solution was successfully implemented at freenet.
