However, this trend also involves risks such as losses due to manipulation, unauthorised usage of the software or liability claims.
In order to remove possible risks, appropriate protection mechanisms must be established. Vehicle functions must be checked and securely activated. Secure binding of the software to a unique instance (such as the driver, the vehicle or the vehicle key) and/or other parameters such as mileage, date or time serves as the basis for this.
In addition to new revenue models, secure enabling of individual software functions also lets you reduce the number of variants of the installed hardware.
